I DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS song lyrics
by Joel Sattler
I was sitting in the house
as quiet as a mouse
around about three AM
just listening to the wind
sitting in the kitchen
with half a cuppa joe
and down the hallway then
I saw a misty glow
a sidedoor opened up
there was a lady here
she walked into the dark
and then she disappeared
I didn't call her name
I didn't see her face
and I can not explain
why there was not a trace
and as I told myself
I don't believe in ghosts
my heart went to my mouth
and the reaper came so close
the room turned upside down
the floor was uppermost
but still I told myself
I don't believe in ghosts
there was once a girl
I thought of in the gloom
and I could almost smell
the hint of her perfume
I never meant to treat
her bad without a care
but she ended her life
in one fit of despair
I never thought that I
could be the cause of it
but still I wondered why
as in the kitchen I did sit
I don't know if her spirit
was what I saw afloat
but I had to live with it
I don't believe in ghosts
and still I tell myself
I don't believe in ghosts
but she was no one else
I remembered what she wrote
that love can never die
no matter how remote
but still I pray to God
I don't believe in ghosts
[quietly]:
ethereal
mysterious
ephemeral
ethereous
shadowy
anatheme
haunting me
like a dream
I was sitting in the house
as quiet as a mouse
around bout three AM
just listening to the wind
sitting in the kitchen
with half a cuppa joe
and down the hallway then
I saw a misty glow
what it was I do not know
where it goes I can not go
I don't I don't
believe in ghosts....
