THE OPERA AINT OVER TILL THE FAT LADY SINGS song lyrics
by Joel Sattler
I came to New York
near the end of a three-day bender
and found myself sitting
front row at the Lincoln Center
Gunther had just got the bad news
and Siegfried was about to lose
and so everyone was waiting
for Brunhilde to start singing the blues
till the fat lady sings
anything at all might happen
till the fat lady sings
we aint leaving Manhattan
we aint leaving here sober
we aint missing a thing
cause the opera aint over
till the fat lady sings
I sat in the dark
wondering how the hell I got there
when a vision in white
sat down next to me in the next chair
she gave me a wicked ass smile
and then after a while
she reached over to me
and put her hand I can't tell you where
till the fat lady sings
any song at all can be sung
till the fat lady sings
we're stuck in Gotterdammerung
they called it indecent exposure
and threw me out into the street
cause the opera aint over
till the fat lady sings
as they were dragging me out
she was lighting up the funeral pyre
Brunhilde gave out a shout
and left me burning up with desire
to reach the end she had failed
and all the gods perished in the flames
but when I get out of jail
I'm going back there again
cause the opera aint over
till the fat lady sings
no the opera aint over
and it don't mean a thing
until you get to hit a homer
until you get the bell to ring
the opera aint over
till the fat lady sings

This one's a keeper with operatic overtones…
