THE ALL AMERICAN DINER song lyrics
by Joel Sattler

verse:
I went down to the Waffle Shop
to watch the waiters dance
it almost looks like a ballet
if you give it half a chance
short order cooks were slinging hash
the register was ringing
the place was raking in the cash
the waitresses were singing:

chorus:
waffles sausage bacon fried
two eggs on the sunny side
grits potatoes whole wheat toast
same old song from coast to coast
ham and pancakes, coffee black
leave a tip cause you'll be back
nothing in the world is finer
than the red, white and blue
all American diner

verse:
this is the true America
no status symbols and no fear
truckers, cops and businessmen
everybody's equal here
and it's the same from Cal to Maine
as real as real can be
in the country of the brave
and the homeland of the free

bridge:
nothing fancy nothing lame
nothing ventured nothing gained

chorus:
waffles bacon open wide
two eggs easy sunny side
grits potatoes whole wheat toast
same old song from coast to coast
ham and pancakes coffee black
leave a tip cause you'll be back
nothing in the world is finer
than the red, white and blue
all American diner

===========================

more:

Ok, now pay careful attention:
I want my hashbrowns extra crispy
scattered, smothered with onions
covered with cheese,
chunked with diced ham
I'm a hambone man, yes I am
diced with tomatoes
peppered jalapeņo
capped with mushrooms
topped with chili
in other words "all the way" potatoes
like they do in the country
and cover the whole mess
with sausage gravy
that's the best

and if I die of cholesterol poisoning
I'll do it with a smile on my face

Your song lyrics made me smile. They are witty and well-crafted. Suzy Davies.

I really like this one. It's down home and it's got grits (at least, in the South).
