THE LAST DAY song lyrics
by Joel Sattler

the last day was born at midnight
in the dark and driving rain
the last day was born at midnight
don't ask me to explain
the moon rose like desire
the sun came up like fire
the world was without form
the last day was born

the dawn was like a bubble
that rose out of the sea
the sun reflected double
the water mystery
the birds sang one two three
in feathered ecstasy
and deep the rivers ran
the last day began

at noon the light was high
and burning filled the sky
the clouds rolled up like steam
beginning of a dream
and green all turned to brown
waves made not a sound
and dust lay on the ground
tomorrow never found

the sunset came too fast
and day bled into black
the future was the past
and God would not come back
the whirling ceased to spin
the stars winked out again
and time was in the wind
it all came to an end

and that was
as they say
the last of
last of days
