I met a Don Quixote
while walking on the beach
we stood and watched the sun come up
forever out of reach
he told me of a windy war
of giants flying with flags held high
I knew he was a dreamer
so I just let it slide
he was only just a dreamer
with a vision that was his alone
on a battlefield he could call his own
and so he had to ride
I saw a girl on a mountaintop
who wanted so to fly
and all the rainclouds in the world
were gathered in her eyes
she spread her wings and lifted up
and all that was left were the tears I cried
she was only just a dreamer
and I never found out why
she was only just a dreamer
and she disappeared into the wild
singing like a happy child
with her arms open wide
I found a god chained to a rock
who still refused to pray
a thousand chains they all were locked
forever and a day
what was the blood that damned his life?
what was the curse that buried him alive?
guess he was just a dreamer
guilty of the sin of pride
guess that he was just a dreamer
with a dream that must create the earth
from death until the last rebirth
with a spark still left inside
