Till The Edge of Day

Come quickly, love, into my dreams tonight,
and lay beside me on this marriage bed.
Don’t hedge what’s true , pondering on what might,
or might not have been.  You and I are wed.

That, we are, till death should our names bellow.
A promise I’ve made, and it, I shall keep
till the edge of day, marks the night in yellow
sundown, and sharply, the sky’s a dark, deep,

abyss; my sight’s hollow, my voice silent.
Because I’ve promised to love only one,
though by your choice, not mine, you are absent,
you’ll be in my heart, till my dreams are done.

Come lay beside me on this marriage bed,
don’t you steal away, you and I are wed.

Nice composition and message. I wish every interesting and passionate woman finds a husband that isn't a hibernating bear. Franz

Carmen;

I can only read this with a male's perspective but I see absolute commitment versus conditional love. Some lovely lines here, especially ". . . the edge of day marks the night in yellow sundown. . ."
