Dark Winter

dark winter:
dying light
and
metamorphosis;
the end of
all things
and
their
beginning.

dark winter:
contraction of
possibilities;
narrowing
of the gyre;
lives
free falling
into stasis.

dark winter
awaiting
in the cold certainty
earth’s
passage
into a new
quadrant of
its orbit --
passage
into bright
warm ambiguity.

the beginning
of all things
and their ending--
metamorphosis
in the dark
of winter

Wonderful poem, John. Winter is both the culminating conclusion and the beginning of the life cycle. Very nicely penned.
