The red mule is saddled and ready,
The grey's all packed–
It’s a short train but these mules
Are a going to carry me away.
Too long have I dallied ----
Too long have I delayed
Lost lover you’re never
Comin’ back. I’ve known
That how long? I hurt you
You hurt me. We are through
So I’m headed off
I’m headed up the trail
I’m headed north. My Heart
Moves me North into
Keewatin, the north wind,
Into the heart of the gale...
North where my true life
is waiting, north where my true
Lover waits. Red starts a bit
When I heel him around
They both take a slow canter
As we pass your gate, up the
Hill we settle into a racking gait,
Covering the years of miles
Quicker than the passing days.
I ride with regrets, but in peace
Will I be back– don’t think so–
But life has its funny ways . . .
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
this, journey's end, and succubus are all related --
there is one more in the vault --- but i'll save that for a rainy day ... enjoy
