A quaint feature of U.S. politics is the struggle between the Right and the Left. You can't call them ideologies first because neither position is that coherent, and, second, neither has had a new idea in 30 years!
so, with apologies to Mr Kipling:
O, Left is Left', and Right is Right
and nary the twain shall meet
Without a splash of vitriol
TO vitiate the facts
O” Left is Wrong” and “Right is Wrong”
They howl from dawn to night
without a single scrap of evidence
It is such a monumental fight.
“Homophobe”, “socialist”, “troglodyte”
“feminist,”“war monger”,”traitor”
the names fly fast and thick.
Rather pointless don’t you think
a simple “good morning”
would have done the trick?
there is no substance only noise
no one listens, everyone screams.
Preaching to the choir. ‘If you don’t
like it leave!’, “God Bless Americ(k)a!”
Criticism is disloyal; dissent treason.
And truth resides not in either camp.
O, Left is Left and Right is Right
And nary the twain shall meet.
From the noise and smoke we may distil
Civil discourse in the USA isn’t civil.

Sometimes these labels are meaningless. It's all about which policies you support. Then people try to lump you into one group or another. Yes, I would like to see a serious discussion of real issues in this country. Very good.

It certainly hasn't been around here - loved the piece, though I am personally neither all left, nor all right (but I'd like to think I'm often close to being right, lol) - amazing what hatred comes to those who speak of peace!
