Sanity Of Pain

Fatigue mixed with pain
Try to sleep
Health is strained
Sleep is unwelcome
Thoughts of rest
go unrewarded
Pain is there
As dusk yields to night
Moon glow filters through blinds.

Wondering often of time
Past yesterdays are gone
Oh! what have I done?
Sometimes nothing new
I don't know about you.

Laying in bed
Never thinking about tomorrow
For today and yesterday
Had enough sorrow.

Only the present pain
travels through my thoughts
As I lay here
Trying my best to stay sane
In a world
Where sanity brings pain.

No pain, no gain, so simple an outlook. You get far after bearing the pain for a while, trust me things will relieve sometime. only can bear so much pain.

powerful writing...often wonder how Mick Jagger managed ALL those nervous breakdowns and I can't even get one;]....seriously, our sanity is a coveted thing, as is sleep.. You draw me in with your poetry and make me FEEL your angst..

Pain is such a drain on our system, William, regardless of where it comes from, or what kind it is. This is a great poem!

This is excellent, William. I'm not sure if the pain is physical or mental anguish. Either or both affect us all at some time or another. I just hope yours ends soon.

Wow, William,

You have a ripped a gaping hole in yourself and allowed us to look right at your gut! The beauty of word choice is bittersweet but oh, so revealing and human. It's a gifted poet, indeed, who can write of pain and have the reader feel it, too.

This is about depth and you have penned it with greatness! katy xox.
