Memories, Laid By The Seaside

From a distant window
I see
By the seashore
My abandon pontoon boat.

Rigs and sails are down
Tied to the rails
Memories of younger days
When my face used to meet
The salty air in the breeze
Rushing
It seemed through me.

Hair I once possessed
Flying wild in the windy sea
Sounds of joyful laughter
Sailing through my mind
Of friends, some now gone
Others holding their own
Or residing in homes.

The love I once held
Lives only in my dreams
Of aqua waters
Meeting deep blue eyes
With treasured thoughts
Buried deep inside.

A pontoon boat
Just laid by the seaside
Of memories gone by
Rigs and sails are down
Securely tied to the rails
Missing was her
Holding my hand
Down by my seaside.

Beautifully written, William. Sad that we outlive so many of our loved one and have only memories of moments in the sun to keep us company.

Hopefully that boat won't be left out there unused for too long. Better to either sell it, give it away or rent it out if you don't feel you will use it. Perhaps there is some magic in that old pontoon boat and it will work for the next couple who uses it too. I love to drift upon the water...it is about the most peaceful thing in the world to me.
Take care,
Sherry

A very powerful nostalgic piece, William - but at least we old timers have some marvelous memories.
