I saw two Cardinals, fly across the road
In front of me, as I drove
Along a country road
A flash of red, Quicker then quick silver
Yet this epiphany of a moment
I will remember for the rest, of my life
For it was a unique vision
To see two beautiful red birds
One chasing the the other, Out of it's domain
It was just a fraction of a second
That's all it takes, to make
An eternal impression.

Time has no concept
A coward will turn and run
A mid a battlefield
Within a split moment, of a thought
In the other hand, another man
At a given situation
Will lose it in a split second
And awarded The Medal Of Honor
He will never understand
What possessed a God fearing man?
Like himself
To accomplished what he did
Within a state Of the unexplained
In a few seconds in time
Where Time has no meaning.

Time is not Tangible
No taste no feeling of it's concept
Unable to possess it or dispose of it
How long will it take?
A condemned man, to die
Once the noose is placed, around his neck
The trap released, he drops to his doom
A neck snapped.
Can one measure a man's life line?
Now in my sixties, I can still remember
My first day in kindergarten
As If it was, five minutes ago
At the same time, I am unable to account
For all I did, but yesterday
Yet two beautiful red Cardinals
Crossing my path, In a split second
Along a country road
Have made an impression
Within my mind
Where time is only measured
With words.

Quite a read. It had a sad feel to it but was quickly offset by the gentleness of the cardinals. Nicely done. I think this is one of my favorites of yours!

Books could be written about this composition... they would be on ontology, the art of living, how to be happy loving Nature, and can the wise live forever...

"Images In Time" has paid its dues to the treasure of Poetry.

Long Healthy Creative Life, Poet.

Sometimes we measure time by events in our lives, like who was our lover at the time or what kind of car were we driving? Funny how the brain links things to put time into a perspective we can relate to. I love the cardinals, one of the pleasures of the years I spent living in Ohio. I would look out of my window to a world completely white with snow, except for the scarlet forms on those snowy branches, that were the cardinals. Such a breath-taking splash of color added to my quiet world. This is a "timeless" write, William, it had me drifting off to a very peaceful place.
Take care,
Sherry

Dear William,
This poem is quite lovely,I love cardinals.
Reading this poem brought back such memories for me, as often times I just sit and watch the birds flitting...recalling all the beautiful cardinals I have seen in the past just today. I truly believe the cardinals love winter myself.
Your reminicing is so heartfelt thank you for sharing.
It is a blessing for you that memories are as if five minutes ago. A true treasure trove of wonderful memories to hold forever.
Thank you for sharing William...so refreshing what wonderful imagery.

This is a very special write William. It is so true that we can forever remember things that take only a few seconds, and of course mostly those things that make a striking impression. We really have no way to measure time except from sunrise to sunrise. But we can't know if there are a few minutes diffrence from one sunrise to another. Yet our clocks tell us time as if they can account for every second. if there were a only a few minutes a day more than we know about imagine over years how that could change our concept of time.;-) Fascinating write!

This is beautiful, it's amazing the things that seem to make an impression in your consiousness. and you are right. You never really know who you are until that split second when you are needed and you either fight or flight.
I am usually a condicending sarcastic person who has very little feelings for anything that doesn't pertain to me, But, I have noticed when the chips are down I will do what needs to be done. I may use a few choice words afterward but it will get done. :)
It's the moments when you're not thinking that defines who you are.
Great write.
