Woman behind a window

It’s a beautiful clear
Sunday morning
From a corridor
Hospital window
She stands behind
Staring out, searching
For that someone
Not there yet.

A forlorn look
Upon the loveliness
Of a beautiful face
She wonders
If he will ever
Arrive.

Slowly she adjust
Her already secured
Hospital gown
Turning around
Almost in tears
Still wondering
Where is he?
Will he ever come?
This time in fear.

Entering her room
Into the loneliness
Of its gloom
Lays atop of her bed.
Her head now rest
On the softness
Of a pillow.

Her first tear drop
Flows slowly down
The side of her face
Falling asleep
As she silently weeps.

Your verses awaken thoughts and emotions, William. Thank you for sharing although, now I feel sad for her... ...but I've been there as I am sure a lot of others have as well. Love and best wishes,

A fine character sketch of a waiting woman. It doesn't take a hospital for women to have that problem… Waiting for someone to come.

IT's stuff like this that blows my mind! People in hospitals and nursing homes. Family in prison or housebound. They need to be reached out to and be reminded of the fact that they are still loved and cared about. You hit a nerve, William...By the way, well written.

Love ya!

Jane
