I would never, ever ask you
to become someone you could not be.
I would encourage the growth
of your soul within, and the
quickening that others can't see.
I have no expectations,
I do not want to change who you are...
I yearn to watch your rose unfold
and see within, your beautiful star.
I can see the gift of becoming,
it is a road I have travelled, as you;
A road edged with tears, and with heartbreak...
healing begins inside of your Truth.
It is cruel to hold above one, expectations,
demanding things that should never be,
One grows strong at the expense of the other -
stealing their hope and all of their peace.
So tell me of hurts that line the halls of your heart,
share with me the pain in the story of your years.
Show me the dreams that you still wish to see
after the sorrow, at the end of the tears.
I will sit, I will listen with understanding and peace,
I would hope forever, that's how much I care -
For the light still burns deep, your need shining strong
and only the right one can see that it's there.
