Fun poetry gives me a lot of smiles in my insides. I like writing and playing with words sometimes. This was written after I watched Camelot on the television. It must have been hot and a world of confusion when it came to satisfying lust in those days.

Once upon a Fairy Tale when maidens with long hair
Let it down for valor's fool who didn't really care
For what his friends would dare to think or even less to prove
As mindless notions quickly came as boldly he'd persue
The maiden with the moonlit eyes and stars made for this rube
With limpid glands that spoke in tights from every tuck and groove
She'd purr to him in moments while his fingers, scarred and bent
Grasped the edge of sanity while his passions proudly spent
Themselves upon the ivyed walls as per custom for the male
To leave a trail of silver prints... liken to the snail
Footprints of a love made quick and gushed upon the bricks
For mindless lust for fools who dared and maidens with their tricks
To woo the suitor's hand with wiles that caused so much dismay
With love that spent itself up high with lust just for a day
Gone as she mocked his play and turned his smile to tears
Back in the days of valor with laughter from these dear
Women of the Roundtable ... their Camelots of Haste
And playing men in those days when love was gone to waste
When men were fooled into this game...when passion laughed and dealt
The playful tease of those who wore
a rusted chastity belt.

Although tinged with humour I found or thoought I found a life lesson mixed in there, perhaps only telling us men to be not so accepting of women or not being led by our mind instead of the other male organ.

Chastity belts are overrated. Bet many found a way around them. It's the armor I worry about. Hot and chafed, what a way to serve it up.

This is a fun take on bygone days. As a lover of historical fiction and poetry, an occasional light approach is a welcome respite to me. "The Lady of Shallot" is my favorite of serious knights and ladies poetry.

perhaps the chastity belts became rusty because the women had a skelton keyd and the belts were kept in a damp closet until they knew their men were returning ... anyway, luv your humor and wit ...

Worse than that rusty belt, is a rusty key that breaks off in the lock...oops...;) Ed

Where there's a will there's a way? At least in your take on the era's lusty bumblings...your poem made me smile, too, Susan.

Chastity belts aren't a token of trust are they? Or perhaps it reflects the mindset of the man who hides the key. I guess in those days the lock smith was a popular guy. Good to see you wrote a poem written in a joyful mood :D

You are good! Love the format...just perfect for this. Alas chastity belts and armor must have made for lots and lot of rusty ardour. Ooops, forgot about the chain mail. Just as clever as clever can be!!!
