~...~

A hangover at Christmas well, yep some of us pay
I feel like I ate much more today
Than Italy has pizzas and Boston her beans
Than low country feasts of shrimp boiled and steamed
Than turkeys as big as Emus who run
Their wings much like stumps when chased by a gun
I ate so much my head has gained weight
I ate and I ate and I ate and I ate
Food hangover hurts
I'm stuffed up to here
My heads in a tizzy
I've tight underwear
If I were a jock with a slender svelt bod
I'd be ashamed for eating and then pray to God
Just let me run and help me to fight it
And melt this fat off
Let's think about diets
I'll burn this weight off
I promise...
I say
Too much at once and my stomach will pay
The sins of indulgence as smiles stretch out oe'r
This plate dripping gravy and roast pork galore
Don't forget casseroles and the soul of the south
Sweet tater mashed up...please shut my mouth
Masking tape could help to seal up this gape
If you're a man, by all means,use electrician's tape
Anything please to stop all the drool
Taste buds seek everything that doesn't move
Say...but what of Jell-O its comes red and green
The color of Christmas with jiggles that scream
Eat this...hey...
It's moving and isn't nailed down
Its lighter by gosh and your weight is kept down
Its clear like glass and euphoric in colors
Its not brown or gray or duller and duller
Jell-O dances...
It swings...
It sways with the bells
If you eat a big bowl your tummy won't swell
Its cool to the buds and stays when thumped over
Its great cause it's light for this Christmas hangover
I'll save it for later and later and later
Perhaps slopped over dressin'n or roasted pataters
This food is so much
There's leftovers for days
Thank heavens for Christmas
Come tomorrow... we'll pay.

Tis the season from Thanksgiving...throw in a few birthdays just after Christmas too and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhh...oh and it's resolution time! Shoot , another dang birthday on the first! If my tummy weren't balast, I'd have rolled off my chair by now. Get me to the gym on time...

This is so funny to me, partly because you have described all my most favorite gastronomical delights in which I love to indulge. I know a Savannian could not write about all this food without mentioning the ubiquitous "low country boil." I swear I feel full after reading this. It's delicious. Please pass the Alka-Seltzer! Great write Susan!

Why some religions ban certain foods. We Mericans have a supermarket of savings to savor--if it smells good, eat it.

Had a dose of pho yesterday to bloat the belly but cut the lard. It worked. Back to pigging again today--she's cooking a bargin turkey.

You covered it--with gravey!

Whew! Just reading this sent the ceiling roof spinning round. I am a Scottish Jock who desperately needed the freedom of a kilt yesterday, thanks to the sprouts. Och aye, and it will be the bike and the cross trainer for me tooooooo! Ugh, I can still hear dad's distant voice from Christmases way back when: 'If ye dinna eat yer meat, ye'll get nae puddin' Forty odd years later, and I never got as far as the puddin'.
Enjoyable feast of a read, Susan.
