My world shook literally as the ground around me opened

An earthquake was in progress

My anxiety rose to a feverous pitch

As the ground opened under me

I fell ten feet into a cavity of rock

My leg hurt very much I believed it to be broken

My covering closed immediately

I heard some moaning and then someone sobbing

It was so dark after being buried

But I crawled in pain to the crying sounds

It was Mercedes the young girl who was one of my neighbors

I reached her and asked her if she was okay

She choked back her sobs but said she was unhurt

I told her of my pain in my left leg

She felt my leg with her hands so cold

The coolness actually felt good on my leg

I tried to calm her because the young girl was very scared

A voice came out of nowhere for me to hear

Dig your way with your hands upward

The voice sounded vaguely familiar

And I followed the voice as it instructed me and Mercedes

I dug my way upward causing my hands to bleed

Mercedes dug also causing her hands to bleed

We must have been at digging upwards a good two hours

The voice was now silent

The brightness of ash began to burn our eyes

As we reached the earth's surface

We were alive and grateful

But outside of the hole we just dug, the ground was not damaged

Our homes were still standing in one solid structure

I do not no what happened that day

But Mercedes and myself felt relieved

No one else felt anything that day in our area

However we know that there is an angel at the core of Earth 
Because he rescued us from the depth of hell
