A prose about a man who will spend his last days in jail.
---------------------------------------

The older sits in seclusion in his living room watching television

He is thirsty for a drink, water will just not do it for him

A simple walk around the corner street to a bar is beckoning

A walk in the early evening is always refreshing

So he showers quickly dresses and begins his walk to the beer garden

The bar is mostly crowded but there are empty spaces

He orders what he always orders as his first drink

A Millers and a Dewars white label

The beer will be his only brew of the night

Scotch is his poison and that will be his to consume tonight

The two guys sitting next to him were young comparing to the older man

He could not help but hear them as they were terribly uncouth

There conversation turned into talk about a black lady

He heard the ethnic racial slur aimed at a black lady sitting a few spaces away

One guy with a shaved head said "hey nigger do you want some white dick tonight"

The lady to her credit turned away and faced me as I sipped my Dewars

She looked up at the ceiling as to the wonder of there crudeness

The older man raised in the Bronx NY and was still hard as steel

He had no qualms about defending the lady

The older man rose off his bar stool and confidently grabbed both loudmouths and banged there heads together

The guy with the shaved head pulled what looked like a 357 magnum out and fired one shot

The bullet missed the older man but hit the Lady at point blank range right between the eyes

The older man was lucky to grab the other guy around the neck using him as a shield

The police arrived and arrested both the bigots and the older man

Now the older man sits in seclusion in a 8 by 10 jail cell

He awaits his fate knowing his limited time left alive will be spent in a jail cell

I PRAY FOR THIS MAN...THAT THE SAME WAY HE CAME TO THE LADY'S DEFENSE, GOD WILL RISE TO HIS DEFENSE AND HIS INNOCENSE. THANKS FOR SHARING, ANTHONY, AND GOD BLESS. LOVE, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

I have to wonder, Anthony, what the going-to-be-dead-soon woman's thoughts are... Sorry. I've had enough, like you and me and Christmas 30+yrs ago, and/or more or whatever. Ever carryingly, in your most inway place, a being which grows, grows and physically grows? If I were alive, I mean, I'd love pre-technology memories. If I was in jail, i'd hurt worse with memories...

Great piece, funny-stupid, in its memoried ways. It kills me...

Wow, what a finish..something just doesn't seem right about the justice in our country...I certainly hope this is not about someone's fate.
Great story/poem!

Much peace, love and light,
