A simple toke on a joint led to his death
He was a fighting man, employed by the USA
Even in Iraq there are drug runners
Only problem was the runner was a she
To him a corporal in the Corp she was a sex maker
He was lonely and despondent, then she came along
Hey Joe she called out to him, do you want to get laid
He looked at her closely, looking if she had any weapons
She looked clean to the Marine
He ran his hand all over her body
Yes she was clean he thought to himself
She was evidently ambidextrous because she used both hands like a surgeon
Unzipping his pants she whispered do you want to smoke first
Sure why not he responded
She pulled from her cloak a joint look-a-like
He took the joint as she lit it for him
He took a deep inhale and then dropped to his knees
And then flat on his face
The Marine had just died from smoking arsenic
Just another day in Iraq

bring our men and women home. Loneliness can be deadly.
And, Tony, you capture it perfectly in these unforgetable
lines. -gene.

the impact is mighty,
the detail stark and tragic,
the cruelty of this encounter smacks my face.
