Running from all the pain I can,
toward every joy so grand.
Demons and evil chase me,
what they offer can erase me.
I have no interest in burnt offerings,
or after the fact sufferings.
Some things mirage their show,
join in, then you know.
The devil is a great artist painting,
but his creations end up tainting.
He's contantly creating,
taking away choice by dictating.
Running man running,
zipping through life sunning.
The devil tries to trip,
I dodge, jump and flip.
As long as I'm running,
the devils less stunning.
Down the road I flow,
Oh, Lord,
down the road I know,
the demons got to go.
Got no plans for the devil,
or his hate and nasty evil.
Down the road I go, oh Lord!
If I reach the promise land,
I want you to know I was a running man.
I never gave in to evil doings,
or the devils harassing booings.
Being a victim of this life,
I did my best with the misery and strife.
Well, maybe I didn't do my best,
but I certainly took the devil to test.
He never could really pin me down,
surely my smile is still around.
After I'm dead and gone,
my spirit will still be smiling on.
I resisted evil most surely,
as the devil strangled me duely.
I recognized my good heart and soul,
as the devil glittered his fools gold.
His fork definitely did prick,
but his evil could never stick.
