So we are poets
we write verse
and whatever
Maybe a story or two
None of what
we do in hobby
or occupation
was as important to me
as our friendship
I cared very little if
you were a better poet
than I
or if you were more
popular in your works
I cared nothing about
competing
All I cared about was
our friendship
that we had built
over the years
Friendship wasn't enough
for you
Being a better poet
better writer
better everything was
all along your agenda
Can't much blame you
but
friendship is like a window
It can be seen through
and broke too
Needing friendships in our lives. Takes work to keep them and sometimes they go apart too. But I have so many I cannot count them all. But dependable ones are the ones I care for most. I like to be a dependable friend to all too. Thanks for this super write.
