A poem about someone being in the public eye yet not really being free

Poem Artwork

Glaring in the flashlight

All eyes are on me

An isolated focus

Encircling over me

Thirty second meetings

Promises of fame

Placed on sugar pedestal

A throne of false acclaim

A realm of suffocation

No room to catch my breath

A lifeless smile for all to see

The mask of my true death

I don’t know anyone here

Yet they seem to be my friend

A paradox of patience

In a world of self pretend

Pulled apart like a rag doll

Each vulture wants a piece

They won’t rest until I’m done

A permanent decease

Now the party’s over

I’m spinning in the dark

Discarded flavour of the month

Their nails left a mark

I yearn for quiet moments

Where I can be me

The only one who knows myself

My own reality

Yet time it waits for no one

I have nowhere to go

Paint my face with big red smile

Onward with the show
