Some days felt like I didn't belong. No matter how hard
I tried. My way of thinking was just so unconventional
to theirs. I would beat myself up for being "different",
for being the odd one out. I sat in countless
conversations I wish I could undo.
What joy is there in picking others apart?
Stomping on their weakness -
you forget you have weaknesses too.
I've spent hours, days, months, years, pretending -
just so I could feel "normal" too.
Little did I know how it would break me.
My soul was torn in two.
I remember the times I would cry in the shower
"Lord, I can't do this anymore".
Those picking apart others, were picking at me too.
It took me a long time to discover that the "normal"
I once was searching for, was nothing but brokenness
on their part. You certainly don't hurt others,
unless you're hurting too.
If being kind, compassionate and non-judgmental
makes me "different", I hope you heal,
so you can be "different" too.
