How can we break the vicious cycle of hunger, disease and malnutrition? Poor governance is one factor that has led Africa to lag behind. Unless we change our mentality as well as political philosophy towards development we shall not be able to break this cycle.
Great grandfathers got their weapons
Along the shores they stood bravely
They fought the European colonialists
But over the centuries things have changed
From the same seashores grandsons are leaving
They take adventure in the dark seas
They are bound to Europe and beyond
They have no hope in their homelands
They die horrible deaths during voyage
Those who remain in Africa have one dream
They get absorbed in the sea horizon
Their eyes look for something they can't see
Happy they become upon sighting a ship
Once a prosperous and rich African soil
Their country is now one big refugee camp
Their governments can longer feed them
Is Africa hopeless or just helpless?
