But action implicated to moslems
Somalia was made a marked nation
It was linked to terroris actions
Its money transfer offices closed
Flights of sponsored Refugees baned
Resettled immigrants suffered badly
Their applications routinely checked
And non of the terrorists was a Somali
Are we not victims of a harsh sterotype?
In fact, someone must stay in the USA for a minimum of five years before they can apply for citizenship. The application process takes at least a couple more years.
Worse still, many Somalis do not speak English at all, and it is a requirement for citizenship. Many Somalis never get the opportunity to adjust status. Others end up going to mental health facilities inorder to be declared psychiatric! Things are terrible here. I will send you an e-mail about it.

It is such a mixed bag of mess down there, it will take deep clever thinking to solve the challenges faced, at last the voice of Somali is being heard, it needs action to the swift..
The extensive time that it takes to become a citizen here, is the same for everyone, unfortunately, even if you were a white, British citizen. There are many here illegally who tie up the system and make it difficult to process all of the legal immigrants who wish/need to stay here. The problems with Somalia are internal moreso than they are about the people who have fled. When one person takes a machette to as many people as he/she can, with no regard and no punishment for their actions, I believe that this is seen, by those of us outside of Somalia, as terrorism on ones own people. The uncaring governments of Africa are the real issue, Abdi-Noor and to lash out at those who offer shelter is unfair and a slap in the face to those of us who are working hard, paying a lot in taxes and not complaining about it, in an attempt to care for these displaced persons. The system is slow and very bottlenecked, I will agree with you, but unlike other nations, we are not tossing these immigrants back on boats and sending them home or throwing them in prisons until we can figure out what to do with them.

There is so much fear in the world and fear breeds hate - which is just another word for sterotype. It seems like everyone feels hopeless - they're sorry but don't know what to do about it. I have a friend who likes to say, "That's just the way the world is and we have to live in it so it's better not to start trouble." I want to start trouble - to end the fear. I want us to be who we are and not some sterotype. I don't have the answer but I'm looking for one. Much love, Marisha
