Somali Women were caught in cross fire while selling their goods in the center of the city market and nobody has so far apologized for committing this heinous crime against poor and defenseless women who have been victimized by civil war over a period of 16 years. Shame!

Every eighth day of March
Women hold ceremonies
To mark the Women's day
In their reports and speeches
They expose those atrocities
inflicted upon Somali women
They condemn fgm practices
And denounce domestic violence
They seek funding from partners
To wipe out abuse once and for all
They cry for equal gender rights
But behind these merry shouts
There lies a shadow of pain and misery
As women wail in their hospital beds
Bleeding to death from gunshot wounds
What have these women done wrong?
Has their case been addressed in the gathering?
