Poem Artwork

your lips were pressed against my ear
your arms around my shoulders
your tears were buried in my hair
and your body was against mine

just before we said good-bye

and then
the engine running
flight looming
tears...in both our eyes
fingers...run across your cheek
we looked...
we stared...
we peered...
we ached...we ached
lips...brushed my forehead
a hand...against my cheek
good girl
good boy
stepping back
drive off
fly home
cry...cry...cry

Sara, the poem itself was heart-wrenching, but as your usual style, it is a well-penned descriptive, teeth-clenching composition. I believe saying good-bye has to be rated as one of the hardest things a human being can do. That’s why I try and never say good-bye, only just take care and be well. Good-bye is just too darn final. Sara, thank you for sharing your remarkable work, precious words of encouragement and good thoughts, my gifted friend. Hopefully I’ll get that song back on the charts where it belongs. Take care and be well.
