Who will I dream of without you?
Whose kisses will breathe life into my heart?
Who will collect my tears
and scatter them through barren fields?
For I can, nor can I, live without you
and I cannot know of what next to do
or of which option is true
when both are experienced
in a never-ending insecurity trap
of conditions hoped for
but never met. With all tomorrows
shut out; their luminosity lost to regret.
And memories wishing for forgetfulness
of things I did and did not have.
But in my weakness
there must be strength.
For in some dimension
I am the woman
I hoped he would know
and not the one that ultimately
led him to ‘silently’ flee.
Tonight, resolving with myself congruently,
I shall be a pillar of semi-consciousness,
where I will pretend to set him free.
To close up my heart
and let him leave as he need.
I will remain in perpetual darkness
with love waiting as it always was
through all tomorrows.
Your words are liquid, running into every vessel, filling the marrow of your being, but do they help to bring him back... with love? Coldly, the answer is, No. For him to read this would only swell his ecotistical heart, already beating for another. Your poem says plaintively thay you cannot go on without him, but the poet know that he is leaving, and the parting will not be sweet in its sorrow. You've brought us out to declare the female and the male viewpoints, and doing this makes for good writing at its very best. Heartfelt Applause for Sara!

The pain in your spirit is palpable, Sara. Some people need to be free and some need to be free of love's deep reaching ties. Not everyone we love is capable of loving us in return and when they find that they cannot, the guilt is crushing and the only way to ease that feeling is to go far away from us. In the end, we win, because we have learned that we can love completely. When they move away from us, they enter back into their lonely life and they turn their back on the one who loved them unconditionally.
Take care,
Sherry
