Discovering strange and beautiful lands You, my wild bird soar high up in the sky Scanning the vastness of the continents As you hunt for your meat
And when you ache and tire You take a rest on a branch in a tree Sometimes dropping to the ground To bath in the coolness of the river With your wings flapping As the dirt and pain washes away
Occasionally you smile to the other birds The day birds The night birds The happy birds The sad birds Taking them all in They teach you about themselves And you teach them about your ways
When all the lessons are done You fly up into the sky Searching out another day You, my wild bird
a charming write, I would like to be a bird for a day and soar about, peace

I love that one!
Pity that a wild bird can never be held in a cage. We would like to have it with us, look at it daily and spoil it. But it would die...

I agree with ...Shaw, this is poetry! My favorite part:
"Taking them all in
They teach you about themselves
And you teach them about your ways"
...It rings so true. Thanks--Emilie

..so many of us behave like the wild bird..we may all take note and recognize ourselves...indeed an excellent poem!!1
As a matter of fact I watch them daily...as I wait by the gates to open at the Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay...They are so cheaky...they answer me when I am talking to them or calling them...and there are two seagulls that follows me to a certian parking...and I feed them daily too...I even took Photo's doing it..I will put them up at AD as soon as they are ready!!
I can do bird watching for hours...that is real bird watching ..I know your poem means something more..
I enjoyed reading this..
I left you a note on mine okay!!
Join me as we travel together on the road called "Aging." I will be sharing my personal experiences with you and offer ideas on how we can better navigate the complex byways of our older years. Grief, healing, generations, ancestors, and more.
