The Wizard of Lost

Like a drowned wicked witch of the west,
My self-delusion is melting.
Leaving behind a pool of pain
As I frantically, grasp for someone to blame.

So much time has gone by now
I have no choice but to face reality.
That the man I loved so completely
Is no longer a part of me.

But as the pillar of strength to all.
Even her…the other woman,
Whose squeaky wheel seems to get all the grease.
I find myself wanting to fight misery’s release.

Maybe I am still in the throes of denial
Listening to that voice in my head.
The one that says, “Oh, he’ll be back tomorrow.
So there really is no point in sinking into sorrow.”

Yes, I will keep tapping my heels together,
Repeating, “There is nothing like our love.”
Believing the fantasy that him and I were a team,
Like a child hanging on, to a useless dream.

But sometimes children do it the right way: they hang on to their dreams, believe in them, knowing the will come true one day without desperately pushing things forward. If everything else hasn't helped yet, why don't you go for this attitude and just wait and see?

Love the analogies in this one--you have breathed life into those true honest feelings that are hard to acknowledge that are there. J.
