A Bloody Bad Week

If you are wondering where I have been on Monday I had surgery on my gums. The peridontist gave me two Halcion tablets when I got to his office to help me sleep through the procedure; this was around 9:30am. I swear I was awake through the entire process, but it seemed to last only a few minutes. This is strange considering I was there for 2 1/2 hours. LOL... Anyway, my husband took me home and I fell into bed at around 1:00 in the afternoon 13:00 hours to some of you. According to my husband I emerged from the bedroom around 7:00pm for about an hour, I don’t remember so I’ll take his word for it and then went back to bed waking up the next day around 5:00am with my clothes from the day before still on. Even after sleeping for nearly 18 hours I was groggy and if I didn't have to go to work I could have easily slept another 8. Those were some really potent sleeping pills. Whew, I'll never do that again.

Last night was rough; shortyly before I went to bed the area where the peridontist took some skin from the roof of my mouth for a graft started to bleed pretty heavily. I sucked blood all night, it was gross and I woke up feeling nauseated. I think I have found a cure for my voracious appetite, drink large quantities of my own blood. YUCK!!! Trust me, some of that and you too will want to puke.

Well that's all I have to report. Then of course someone keeps telling me it's Christmas and I need to go shopping. So shopping I must go. Yeehaaa!!!

The bottom line is…I didn't have a poem in me, because all I could think of was sleeping. So if you are reading this then you know all you need to know about my present state of affairs. Which is what my poetry often is, a slice of my life. So here is a little pie to savor, I hope you like the taste.

My every waking thought is about you
How you laugh
How you smile
How you cry
How you love
How you think
How you touch
How you speak

How you look
When you look at me
With that look of love

You are the life
That makes me live
I love you baby
With all my heart
I love you

Seems like you have had a rough time, my problem was exactly the opposite no sleep for 36 hours it has been a busy time.
It's now time, to head home, hope to catch up soon.

if i must say, i found the top half to be more interesting and poetic then the actual poem. this is not meant as a put down. but to allow you (and others) to see that there is poetry in the real, and sometimes the poem fails because we try to hard to make it sound like poetry/ life is poetry, therefore no need to make it sound like what it already is.

Sara, I've been there and done that. Was a horrible experience. Makes for a bad Christmas dinner when your mouth is so sore it hurts to talk much less eat! Sure hope it gets much better very soon!
I'm having surgery in January, so I may be telling a tale much like yours very soon! Hopefully not though.
Your poem was still touching even though we all can imagine how horrible you felt while you wrote it. Lisa

O shame poor Sara!!

At least you knew why you had to drink/eat your own blood!!

Some just get feeded daily by a fist in the mouth!!

Happy blood sucking till next time!!

Take Care!

Love Tinka

Oh my god, Sara, that is the same procedure my friend's 12 yr. old daughter has to have!! God, I hate those hideous mouth procedures! I had to be 'planed and scaled', another gum procedure, 12 shots in the mouth within 48 hours, scrapings and cuttings and horrible feelings, then all the shot sites cankered, no pills, though, it was the weekend... That swallowing blood thing sounds ghastly, not to mention the flap of skin gone! And I have a check-up tomorrow morning...I don't want to go!

Hope you heal quickly! Lovely little verse. :)
