Eyes of War

We fought the battle for Independence a long time ago
United as one we beat our masters and gained a country
Our fore fathers set the tone for what was to come

Our nation split we fought with rifles against our own
The North against the South fought tooth and nail
The North won out and kept our country whole

We went to Europe to fight the Great War of Wars
Tanks roared over the Germans and we were victorious
Order was kept in check for future generations

Until the Second Great War and the Evil One
We fought to save the World on land, sea, and air
We drove Hitler and The Nazis back into a corner

And kept the world safe for a little while

Next the cold war was upon us
It took many years with a Global Thermo-Nuclear Warfare threat
But we survived without incident,                                                

And the Communist Soviets finally crumbled

In between we fought that bloody war in the jungle
We lost many soldiers during that war
Finally we left in defeat and shame and disgrace

Then the Middle East erupted in chaos
We went to the Persian Gulf to fight a small country called Iraq
We drove that crazy dictator Saddam out of Kuwait                  

And back to his hole  

And that was that we thought as more small wars followed,
Mexico, Central America, and South America Drug Wars          

Just to name a few…

Then the ghosts of Pearl Harbor returned                                   

On September 11, 2001,                                                      

When the United States was attacked on her homeland soil          

By those who some call the last Antichrist,                                           

Osama Bin Laden and his Mafia gang called al-Qaeda       

The Terrorists finally did it,                                                      

And changed the face of future warfare!

Or did they?                                                                              

No, I rather tend to disagree…

Since the birth of mankind we have lived,                                                    

Are living,                                                                               

And will live till the end of mankind,

In the Eyes of Wars.
