"Best of friends,"
"Soulmates,"
Simply someone to talk to.
Within such an ugly world,
Something calm. Peaceful, almost.
No matter how strained the distance,
How composed the silence,
You were always there.
A thousand miles didn't matter -
Neither either of our two lives.
For those few moments - connection.
You knew all my secrets,
I told you things untellable,
And I would listen as you cried.
But pages turn.
Do you simply force yourself forward -
Or possibly revisit those in the past?
Time can only tell -
For lonely drives,
And forgotten lyrics,
Will make you never fully gone.
