My grandson wanted to know if dogs 'went to heaven.' Why not?
*********************
Where's the mansion with lush gardens nearby
where all dogs gather to mingle and sigh?
They howl at the moon, bay at the sky.
It's a volley of dogs? Don't murder ... just die.
One is a shepherd, another a bull;
one's intelligent, the other's a fool.
Hear the murmur of sleeping dogs? It's cool!
For sure ... could be learning something at school
more complicated than shaking fur dry.
Do not wake them up! Let sleeping dogs lie.
Let a life of consciousness pass them by.
May they grovel and weep, bay at the sky.
Still they haven in heaven full of cheer
where the sleeping dogs go year after year.
A puppy, such delight, is cradled, dear,
lapped up and suckled by those far and near.
See the mansions there ... with gardens nearby
and green fields to roam o'er the pale blue sky?
Wolfing and barking each gives hearty sighs.
Aspire to retire where sleeping dogs lie.
Wonderful sentiments...all of the Creator's creatures find comfort in It's heart.

I liked the poem as well and may I say that my dogs have prayer meeting every morning. My uncle used to say that when his beagles would gather with the hounds and bay in the morning and evening. "Oh heish your fuss mama they is just having prayer meeting."
