Thickly spread like mayonnaise--
(freshly applied from side to side)--
served with a dollup of love,
praise makes our hearts shine.
Everyone likes it,
everyone wants more,
and one never tires of it,
praise raises spirits.
Lavish it on, light or heavy,
it holds many things together
(sandwiched between slices of normality),
praise is free but priceless.
You can keep it to yourself
or share it with the multitudes
it is of little use unshared,
praise those deserving.
Let it ooze, spill all over,
never cease to be there,
in our hearts, souls, everywhere,
praise thrives, fertilizes.
Oodling globs of sugary goo
just to force our way isn't right;
say it sincerely with clarity . . .
praise is a salve everyone needs.
In a post-coup America, an Illinois farm boy is drawn into the resistance by his brother's death. Captured, he is given a choice: betray his friends, or the girl he loves will be lobotomized.
The deep-dive literary meditations presented as stories, poems, and essays in The American Poet Who Went Home Again, A Mosaic of My Soul at Work, have captivated and inspired readers ever since its first paperback publication in 2008.
