Double Edged Sword

I could pretend you're not there,
tell myself, I just don't care
wipe away the grit in my eyes
go through life, believing such lies...

Try to silence a searing conscience
though it pierces the soul, like a well aimed lance
without the breastplate it's open slather,
can I afford to say, it just don't matter...

Chorus

Two edged Sword wielding truth
this heart of mine needs little more proof
Razor sharp cuts through life's pages
right to the chase down through the ages
Can I ignore or can I ill afford
to walk away from the "Double edged sword"

Could I wait, till the deathbed call,
try to bend the knee, give my all
might get lost on the ferris wheel
what then, a second appeal

We go round once in the scheme of life
the carnival cleverly disguised strife
open mouthed clowns take your last token
leave the child, lost and broken

 Bridge..

Let me at the rollercoaster
No Ghost Train, it's a soul roaster
I'll take all of life's highs and lows
even when they're just plain low blows..
No carousel where painted horses stare
I'll bow for the White Horse Rider, with no fear!

Love it, sort of reminds me of some Joan Baiz work in the sixties. You done this so well and I didn't know you were a songwriter.

Hello High Country Girl,

So well written and full of wisdom! Truly the Word of God is living and active and sharper than a double-edged sword, that cuts through the heart and soul with its truth. A blessing to read...and sing.

Ch'erie, this is exceptional writing!
Powerful and fraught with frustration!
The kind of decision that's so hard to make!

There's much sadness in this song. Hope it is just a song. Very nicely-written, Ch'erie!!!!
