It takes 1 year in Australia after a seperation, to obtain a divorce, wot timing!

Undead

She sleeps sliently

amid the rustling leaves

of a cabbage giggy

content in the knowledge

of her surrounds

position, with her joey's

within, and upon her back!

All Vigils for now on hold,

while sleep for this weary

creature of the night,

nocturnal in her ways

through habit shelters the growing

marsupials.

Unaware of the Hunter

his wily schemes

to furnish his coffers

with her hide

for the love of money

a few bucks more

is of no consequence!

A poke, a prod,

she rears her head

sleepy eyed,

without a hope

and buys one right between

the eyes!

Dead?

No, no such dignity

she lives on

to watch in horror

as her carcass falls

to the ground

snatched up by waiting

dogs.

The pain is yet to begin,

as she see's her furless Joeys,

 ripped from her pouch

go under the boot

 ofa larger creature

turned into blood n gel

in a heatbeat!

Mash, upon the ground

gobbled up by dogs

bloodthirsty,

only concerned with pleasing

the master..

Hell is beginning!

Thrust into a hesian sack

carted from that place

of execution,

yet she lives,

to a fence post

wherein her body

is ripped inside out!

Tacked out on a board

from a tree already

dead, her body removed

and taken to an awaiting

meathook, to rot

be boiled,

for consumption...

She see's all this,

though she should be dead

she remains undead

watching as if from afar

her boiling corpse

her hide drying in the sun

Blood and sinew

meat and grisel

every part used to satisfy

the needs of others

all that remains

is for her to finally

succumb!

The lights remain on

the pain the stench ceases not

till nature runs it's course..

In time, in time,

her hide will reunite with her skin

complete..

For now the flaying

has it's grip on her, mind body and soul

Kia ora Ch'erie, what magic you weave in the words that you write - I love the Undead - its beautiful. Ch'erie, I also love your poem about Pukehaupapa - Mt Taranaki. My friend who knows the work I do with Pukehaupa storytelling found your poem while cuising the net and forwarded me a copy to read. I am organising a wananga at Parihaka on 10-12 December 2010. If you live close to Taranaki would you like to come to the wananga as my guest and share your thoughts about Pukehaupapa. A wananga is a Maori word to describe learning and/or a learning environment or similar. Nga mihinui ki a koe Ch'erie i to ngakau ngawari, i to ngakau rangimarie.
