Dawn breaks silently,
blistering the night,
yielding day
like some heavy fruit.
Sunlight sprays
like fat drops of rain,
bearing the morning
with warmth enough
for all the world.
I look to my side,
finding you smiling
in your sleep,
dreaming of something,
softly.
And it's only when,
it's only then,
that I rest my head
against the pillow,
coming back to bed.
I trade a miracle away
to linger by you
one moment longer.
Words almost escape.
Instead,
I try to keep silent.
