Gray October,
clouds above,
holding back
the burning sun.
And driving down
this concrete bridge,
I feel the darkness
moving in.
And to the right,
and then the left,
the forest beckons,
just ahead.
A sea of yellow,
a sea of red,
Too many colors
to comprehend.
And to myself
with mounting dread,
the harshest words
are softly said.
I like October poems, but we don't seem to agree on the season. Fall is my favorite time of year. True, I don't much care for
the cold, but that's really winter you're talking about. :)
