First shots put down, let the party begin,
Keep home the past to make room for some sin.
It's just Kate and I, and Joe from next-door.
Well, just us two 'cause Joe's out on the floor.

But not I! Just two shots will do me well,
The taste ain't that great, but it sure beats hell.
Maybe soon I'll forget that when I fell,
I broke my bone, well, I guess you can tell.

On that note I'll go for my final shot,
Three's a charm (gag), this stuff sure goes down hot.
This couch's getting old, so maybe I'll stop,
When my fears need cleaned up with a mop.

Come on! Hurry up and pour number four!
I swear, I won't ask for even won more.
I never knew you were this pretty, Kate!
I always did want a reel pretty date.

These shots is so small! Just give me a keg.
I'd get up and kiss you if I could feel my leggs.
Hey! Where'd Joe go? I swored I seen him here,
But my memory just isn't that clear.

Wait, where'd the drinks go? the bottle is dry..
I'll just go use this napkin as a tie!
Hey! My leg won't walk, what's up with this thing,
I can't seem to make the room stop spinning.

The floor is real soft. WOW! There's my friend Joe.
Now everything's black, hmm, where'd the world go?
O.K., I see Spike, and my ol' granddad,
Wait? Jesus? Oh! I've done something real bad.
Please, just let me say goodbye to my dad,
He's all I've ever had... oh i've done something bad.

I like the progression in this - and I could read in your words that "you" were getting more drunk by the minute. I could feel this. Much wisdom in this piece, Evan. Thank you.

Evan,

Booze will do that.
you capture the drunk well
and the emotions of it through
out this poem.
