"It's one hell of a life, but it's still a life worth living,
And you'll never make it long if you don't remain driven."

All I can do is bow my head and take the verbal blow,
Wow! It never hurt this much to hear what he knows.

"You keep blazing this trail and you'll end up nothing but burnt,
God, how can I teach him if he never does learn."

Oh, but I yearn to shed this coat and fly away,
But this web of lies shrouds my voice when I say...

...That the truth of the matter, although my soul's in tatters,
Is that I'd leave it all behind if I could dry up this sea of chatter,

That drowns me alive, if I simply take the dive,
So instead I crawl out, mere inches that keep me alive.

Until one day I soar off in metamorphic mystery,
Away from the misery of a scattered history, now listen please...

They ask me, "Evan, please tell me one day you'll change?"
And the truth is I'll try, but you know i'll always stay the same,

And as I looked through the tarnish of that foreboding badge,
All I could see was this struggle...
...And the truth I once had.

I think at your age (read your bio) you are still malleable enough that life will carve you into something far more than you are now. There is still much room for growing. Dynamic piece! :)
