My Lines Aren't Mine

My lines aren't mine.

I guess it all started when I lost myself,
Found me a cell that cost me my health,
Oh well. There's always tomorrow,
To fix my flaws or find other rhymes I can borrow.

Because these lines aren't mine,

Well, with so much at stake, do you blame me?
Everyone is different but the whole world's the same, see?
You rob from your own family, murk through troubled waters,
Mothers beating their kids forgetting they were once daughters.

These lines aren't mine,

I steal poets pasts to plan for my future,
I know I can make it, they say, are you sure?
Insure my life with my true love's assurances,
I'll find us one day, it may be an odd occurence

One day I'll write real,

For now i'll put down what I feel, alone,
Driving down an empty road searching for home.
Costing me roaming charges to find where I belong.
Passing up this "love," it's only good for a catchy song.

So long, for in leaving I find a place to return,
When my clothes get shaggy and my hair gets worn,
And I meet a man I can call "I".
When I see him, can I look him in the eye?
For now i'll fix my gaze to the sky,
Waiting for the stars to come out.

this is very good poetry...and I'm sure your words are your own, and that you take pride in what they have to say :)

Behind the Gates: Behind the Gates: A 1990s Hollywood Romantic Suspens by Lisa Maliga

The higher you go into the hills, the deeper the secrets... A seemingly innocent piece of mail shatters the illusion of Beverly Hills luxury, forcing a terrifying statement from a powerful action movie mogul: "they can't kill us fast enough."
