Where will I find my freedom? And once discovered, how will I greet him? With scorn born from seventeen years missing, Or joy knowing without him a boy learned how to listen,
To the drop of his own tears, Stop! Wait for your own fears, To bring out the best in you. Now sing loud the final test of truth.
Then as the bone breaks, the soul shakes off the rest of you. A boy's bones broken in half Forces the man inside to become whole. Who, now, can tell him to do what he is told?
You see an ankle turn, I see a chance to earn a meeting. But sadness befalls a fallen man, Learning joy, like this pain, is fleeting.
'Till the broken heart attacks, A man flies higher as his life flashes back. I shuffle past the coffin, yawning, as my dad tolls: "See son, that's freedom that will never grow old."
Excellent Evan....this sorta makes you take a look at life and the ignorance of the human...to be broken in mind heart and soul...can make you die inside...even though you are still breathing!!
Poetic excellence through the lines of "Broken Bones" abounds;
and a philosophical thought is expressed masterfully.
I salute You, Poet!
