I gave her trust freely just because I knew
she must have been the one, and she wasn't.
I thought it would burn to learn that love's never returned.
But if just feels numb.

How could I ever have been so dumb to dream that you might also care.
Now I know, like I feared, the feeling was never there.

And it tears me apart to know I allowed one more
to enter my heart, and you parted it.
I hoped the sting would have ended but you just started it.

Now I walk alone again.
Search for home again but I have none.
Don't you think for a little we at least had fun?

For as short as the caring lasted,
I thought it was worth what might happen,
If you happened to be just like every other silly girl.

So I tried to give you the world and you crushed it.
I wish I could just remove you from my heart but you touched it.
Much of it was my fault I suppose.
I never should have let myself take a chance, become exposed.

I just wanted this to be special but you were just the same.
I still feel like only I can be to blame.
Once again I allowed my love to be lured.
I guess, like i thought, you just finally got bored.

We must always be open to love and never close our heart. We will get hurt, that is a given, but pain is part of living and if we don't take the chance we will never find the right love. Don't beat yourself up because you fell for someone who didn't share your dream, simply be proud and happy that you still are able to hold onto that dream and that you were able to experience those wonderful feelings even if they were unrequited. The thrill of the moment is always worth the pain that may follow. Take time to heal and go forward. She is out there somewhere, and if you have faith, you will find each other.
Take care,
Sherry
