Something was terribly wrong.
Stepping out on stage, she knew
Even as it consumed her, within her breast.
She was too cold under the hot spotlight.
Her words falling short as each breath quickened,
Faster than the last.
Just one more show...please one more.
It was my life and it shall be the end of me.
Beyond the light that shines upon her,
She can’t help but think this is what heaven must be.
The crowd nothing but faceless angels,
Soft around the edges.
And everything fades...
The curtain folds.
And death overtakes her
Beyond the curtain...
