Gene - This is one of my absolute favorites of yours. Love the title "ebb tide". It so appropriately depicts a lone human pondering the approach of "twilight days:"
I admire the way you reinforced each stanza with images of the coming of the end,
meandering ocean swells
ripple to shore,
peals a distant toll,
threatening chill blows from the sea.
recede in silence,
intrude upon the empty black,
to:
the ebb and flow
of preoccupied years
winding down.
To me this is all about taking a solo walk to visit memoires--to take a trip in time back to earlier years. Being alone with nature works like magic just like 'ebb tide'
Gorgeous, and thanks for the visit to Mother Ocean--haven't been to her side in years and miss very much all those sights, smells and sounds you evoke.
"the ebb and flow of preoccupied years winding down" -- memories, washed ashore with the incoming tide of time and erased in the sands by the ebbing seas of eternity's pace -- these things will endure, when the tides are ours to watch, no more -- all of man that may endure, are legacies of the heart, and soul -- let the ebbing tides be forbidden the rights to edit, the little of us that is permitted to endure -- love this philosophical muse -- it comes from the soul of a man at grips with reality's touch -- much peace and love to you my dear friend -- Jon Michael
Gene,
A gentle yet highly charged threnody with excellently sustained images and hinting at quiet inevitability. This is very fine writing indeed.

Your ebb tide is so good, much better than my latest ocean write. You have more talent and can put words together nicely. We were thinking alike somehow with the waves, the high winds, the boats and all.
Hmmm.... you make me wish I was there. You are so poetic. That's a silly statement as you are an exceptional poet/writer and this poem exemplifies it. Love and hugs, J'nia
Gene,,,This is magnificent, I spent 3 years by the ocean,,,I can see the fiddler and horseshoe crabs as I read this,,,,The reflection of life that is oh so short.
Love,
Christine
Your well chosen words take life, and I am transported to your seaside and world! I am fortunate to have found such magic early on a morning? For an old newsman, you are highly talented for reporting on nature and its nether world news! My deepest thanks, Gene! - Bill
A way to use your mind for silent communication. Speaking about the methods in the book I have used since a young age.

The captivating music of birds and the enchanting beauty of roses have, each in their own right, inspired people around the world for as long as anyone can remember. How the two combine with the challenges faced by a struggling writer in Georgia to c
