Well, well. And here I was expecting a two-line poem, with M and E. Have I become too much the literalist? This is a fun poem, tight little autobiography, just packed with yummies about Gene, Eugene, or whoever in heck you are. there seems to be confusion about challenges. let me say I challenged Gene to write the poem about taking him from the sea. then he challenged me to write one I haven't written yet, or already have written. This makes me want to do an acronym. Anyway, I enjoyed this, G. Now go sell that novel! I am interested in these gull conversations. Do they answer back? Do you read them your poetry? Are they smart? are they gull ible? anyway, thanks for this clever snapshot! Julie

I don't know of Bear's challenge; I've been away too much these days. But I do know that I like how you've used "given" and "name" in the first sentence. I love that every time I hear the word "gull" or "seashore", I now think of "you Gene." This is light and easy and fun.
