Put down the pen
words are merely words signifying words
Look beyond the words
count the stars, measure the universe
until it curves back to you
Step into the surf
feel the moon's pull across the night
imagine a now with no beginning
Touch the wind
follow the sun in your shadow
Plant a seed
watch it blosson
smell it
Watch a gull glide, listen
to the silence
Inhale, hold it in, hear
your heart beat in your pulse
Prick a finger
taste the ocean in the wound
Look at the ape look at you
Try again, put down a word
for wonder
Break the pen

inexpressible...and that is why we have pens... we are trying to express that wonder we feel.

Problem is ... I put the pen down .. only to drown in the words! ha! Great poem!

Amazing. You drew me in, made me want to--well, step away from the keyboard rather than putting down the pen I rarely hold anymore, except to sign a check, which I also rarely do...Signs of new times. Still, the message holds. And that message has been received. ;-)

EXCELLENT!!! :)) Delivery, tone, imagery, ideas... all works wonderfully well together to produce a "jizz" - a "just is"! Think the posh word for a BINGO!-type write like this is "an inevitable utterance", but I'll just say... wish I wrote it! And I agree with every word! Good to meet with another kindred spirit, Gene! Thank you. Kate xx

I Love This Read!
It captures the intelect of what if, when, & why & he ponders of existence.

I love this... it speaks volumns. We should all experience life and take a moment to enjoy all its wonders.

So true, Gene, and so very well written. I've always said, "Words are nothing more than a few letters put together to form a specific sound, a meaningless noise without action providing definition." You have defined! Visit me sometime.

A bit dictatorial, aren't you?

Gina, grinning
PS: While I don't want to look at apes looking at me, break pens, and pour ocean salt into my self-inflicted wounds, I do admire your passion.
