Poem Artwork

If the sky falls we shall catch larks.
[1670 J. Ray English Proverbs 143]

Angels On The Slip

I heard the sky was falling
Time for the air to rest
The sun was leaning lower
As  heaven came to nest

Descending oh so quietly
Cushioned by the clouds
Unyoked by the universe
Drifting without sound

Rippled on the split
Billowed on the wave
Like a sail of crystal air
Rolling down concave

I heard the sky was falling
As night and day blend fade
With colors straight from heaven
Umbrellaed on cascade

Then as the heavens drifted low
We stroked by finger tip
Those that flew above our reach

Angels on the slip

Pax

Anita this is a heavenly piece of writing. I was caught up in the images you created here while enjoying the perfect meter and smooth flow of your words. This one deserves to be read more than once.

Ahhh... Angels... one of my enduring preoccupations and motifs... particularly the City kinds... Beautiful words conjure both the feather softness and the tensile strength of our sinuous friends and I love the graphic... could be a city sculpture somewhere, done in fine metals. Lovely tone and movement to this write. Love, Kate xx

I love that proverb, an intriguing, metrical write; how one thinks of this in poetry is beyond me. Fascinating enought to check out more of yours. Thanks

Vibrant write with such billowing bright images that make one look past the words into the depths of the sky itself.
