To everyone is given the key to heaven; the same key opens the gates of hell.  ~Ancient Proverb

COMPANIONS UNSEEN

She woke in the night, sat up in her bed
Drenched in moon lite, as whispers were said
Walked to the window, opened it wide
Felt her hand glow, there was something inside

Confused now was she, as sleep left her eyes
For her hand held a key, but no lock did she spy
Surrounded by mist, that parted to show
Lit by lunar kiss, a slumbering road

Lifted thru air, and gently eased thru
With footsteps now shared, by echoes of two
Still clenching key, in fist over heart
Companion unseen, as journey did start

Lost within mazes, puzzles, and swirls
Shooting star lasers, commotion and whirl
Fingertips brushing, soon hand in hand
Heavens glee blushing, proud of its plan

One traveler lock, the other has key
As fate ticks the clock, who knows what will be?
Dawn gifts the light, by direction of heart
To bind within deed, as new journey starts

Anita

Lady A., this is a wonderfully lyrical, mystical poem! Great imagery:
"...no lock did she spy
Surrounded by mist, that parted to show
Lit by lunar kiss, a slumbering road..."

Well written and magical!

Excellent, Anita! Indeed, the journey begins as a mystery: what is the key? For many years, I thought, what is the key to entering heaven? Oh, I understood that accepting Jesus as the Son of God was part of the plan. It's amazing that, in searching and seeking answers, we find there are two keys-- right there in the Bible-- shown to us no less than three times just in the Book of Revelation: "Those who have obeyed my [God's] commandments and have the faith OF Jesus." The two keys remind me of a bank safe deposit box: the bank has a key and we have a key; it takes both to open the box. ~~Bonnie Q
